We are Miriam and Frank Stelges and our dog Nuk‘ah!.
We are originally from Germany and moved in 2016 to Alaska to start a new business and a new life.

Frank came for the first time to Alaska in 2007 when he was all alone on a 6-month long motorcycle trip through the US. He rode from New York to Florida all the way up to the Arctic Ocean in Alaska, down south to the border of Mexico and back to Florida: of all the beauty he saw on these 27,000 miles: he totally fell in love with Alaska and its wilderness and has been coming back every summer since then.

He rode his bicycle all over Alaska, hiked in the Brooks Range and paddled remote rivers with his canoe.
As a professional photographer he was just in paradise on these trips: the abundance of wildlife and untouched nature provides more unique motives to capture than you can wish for!

Miriam met Frank in 2013 in Germany where Miriam was head of human resources for a fashion company. The two fell in love and shared their passion for photography and the outdoors.

When Frank asked Miriam in 2015 if she would marry him and follow him to a new life in Alaska it was an easy decision!

And so the two packed their stuff together and found a new home here in the north of Fairbanks where they rebuilt an old house and built the Aurora Yurt all by themselves together with the help of some new friends.

All the time with them is of course their Australian Shepherd Nuk‘ah! who is enjoying Alaska and the outdoors as much as Miriam and Frank.
